My Approach

As a native Vermonter, I value the opportunity to work closely and collaboratively with the institutions, businesses, and neighbors at the heart of our state. I provide effective advocacy through a strong background in strategic analysis, innovative problem solving, and legal research and writing. I appreciate the challenge of breaking down complex issues into straightforward options for my clients.

Practice Areas

Employment Law

I counsel employers on federal and state employment laws and rapidly evolving personnel issues across a variety of sectors, with the goal of implementing preventative measures and avoiding litigation, while simultaneously accomplishing business goals.  I also work with employers on developing and maintaining effective workplace policies and procedures.  Additionally, I advise clients on a variety of employee benefits issues and assist companies and executives with executive compensation planning.

Civil Litigation

I have a background in general civil litigation, and I have experience defending employers in state and federal court and before administrative agencies, including in cases involving claims of discrimination, retaliation, and harassment.

Experience

  • Press and communications aide to Congressman Peter Welch.
  • Earned a certificate in environmental law in law school, working at federal agencies including the Environmental Protection Agency and the Department of Interior, with a focus on environmental enforcement and land use issues.
  • Worked as a summer associate for a boutique law firm in Baltimore specializing in personal injury and medical malpractice cases.
  • Clerked for the Honorable John M. Conroy on the U.S. District Court for the District of Vermont and the Honorable Scott T. Varholak on the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado prior to Dinse.
