Practice Profile
We have substantial depth and range of experience in healthcare law. We represent healthcare providers, insurers and healthcare systems in resolving complex legal and regulatory issues and we serve as consultants to clients addressing concerns in these areas.
Our clients include hospitals and health systems, home health agencies, nursing homes and other long term care providers, and individual providers and practice groups.
We advise clients on a wide range of healthcare issues, including tax exempt financings, corporate reorganizations, acquisitions, tax matters, payment and reimbursement problems, rate setting, regulatory compliance and related issues, certificate of need proceedings, managed care initiatives, PHO's, physician practice acquisitions, anti-trust problems, assisted living projects, and professional relations issues.
We regularly defend health care providers in professional malpractice and related litigation. We have handled the defense of malpractice and professional liability cases for almost every hospital and health care organization in Vermont, and a great number of the physicians and individual providers. We are currently handling the defense of more than 50 medical malpractice cases, representing physicians and hospitals in virtually every court in Vermont.
Our healthcare practice group is comprised of attorneys with specific areas of expertise to meet the diverse legal needs of our health care clients. The healthcare practice group remains current on legal issues affecting the industry. We speak and present papers regularly at local and national meetings and seminars on legal issues of special interest to Vermont health care organizations. We appear regularly before state agencies affecting the health care industry.
