Practice Profile:
The civil litigation practice of Dinse, Knapp & McAndrew, P.C. is extensive. During the firm's 80 years, we have handled many of Vermont's largest and most noteworthy civil cases. The firm currently handles more than 500 active litigation files, representing local, regional and national clients in all state and federal courts in Vermont and in the neighboring states of New Hampshire and upstate New York.

The Litigation Group follows a collaborative approach in the handling of cases. We involve our clients in all important strategic decisions. Clients are also routinely updated on the status of their cases and receive comprehensive evaluations as matters proceed.

Our litigation practice covers the broad range of civil proceedings. Some areas of particular litigation expertise are:
    Commercial & Business Litigation:
    As an outgrowth of our business practice, we have considerable experience in handling of banking, corporate, commercial, securities and contract litigation of all types for both Vermont and national clients.

    Employment:
    As part of our employment law practice, we regularly represent both public and private employers in the defense of employment discrimination and wrongful discharge claims.

    Products Liability:
    We defend manufacturers and sellers of products in complex, sometimes catastrophic cases, in which injuries and property damage are alleged to be caused by product defects.

    Insurance Litigation:
    We regularly provide coverage opinions and litigation defense to insurance carriers in matters arising from insurance coverage disputes. We have particular expertise in environmental coverage issues.

    Civil Rights Litigation:
    The firm regularly defends municipalities, public officials and governmental entities in cases alleging violations of civil and constitutional rights.

    Construction:
    The firm represents engineers, architects, owners and contractors in major construction litigation.

    Professional Malpractice Defense:
    In connection with our health care practice, the firm represents hospitals, physicians, dentists, and other health care professionals in the defense of malpractice claims. We also defend attorneys and other professionals in responding to claims of professional negligence.

    Transportation:
    We defend motor carriers in cases involving injuries, death and property damage, and are active in ALFA's nationwide Transportation Law Practice Group.

    We represent individuals in complex family litigation arising from marital breakups.
