Practice Areas:

Maggie primarily advises Vermont employers on legal issues related to offering or managing employee health benefits.  This practice area includes advising employers on compliance matters related to the Affordable Care Act, ERISA, HIPAA, “Part 2,” and compliance with Vermont’s health insurance regulations. She also works with healthcare providers on issues related to practice management, reimbursement, regulatory compliance (including Stark and anti-kickback laws), practice contracting, corporate transactions, employment contracts, licensing and credentialing and meaningful use of electronic health records systems. Maggie is also engaged with Dinse’s Business Group working on corporate transactions, corporate governance, compliance, board management, contract negotiations, sales and acquisitions, and securities offerings.

Experience:

Maggie joined the firm as an associate in September 2011.  She began her career clerking for General Counsel of the Department of Financial Regulation, formerly known as the Department of Banking, Insurance, Securities, and Health Care Administration (“BISHCA”).  Her work as a law clerk focused on health insurance matters for the Division of Health Care Administration.  In 2007, Maggie left BISHCA and joined Delta Dental, in Boston, Massachusetts, as Assistant General Counsel and Privacy Officer. In this role, Maggie supported a national oral health insurer in all legal matters including corporate governance and transactions, regulatory compliance, and privacy issues.
