Commercial and Real Estate Transactions

Description of Practice:
Mr. Gurtman advises individuals, businesses and non-profit organizations in both real estate and business transactions.  He represents both business and institutional clients in contract negotiations, the formation of business entities, and tax planning.  He also helps clients structure and close strategic acquisitions and dispositions.

On the real estate side, he represents both individuals and businesses in the purchase, sale, development and leasing of both commercial and residential properties, including the structuring of § 1031 exchanges.  He also assists many of the region’s hospitals, colleges and universities in navigating Vermont's land use regulatory scheme and is involved in all aspects of land use permitting and planning.

Prior to joining the firm, Mr. Gurtman served as a law clerk for the Vermont trial courts in Chittenden and Addison Counties (2005-2006).
